Baseboards getting in the way of your wooden gate installation? Our Custom Wood Gate Baseboard Spacer Kit creates a straight mounting surface where your trim projects from the wall, helping your gate rails sit plumb without an improvised stack of blocks.

Handcrafted to order by Stumps Custom Wood in Ohio, this kit includes two 36-inch wooden mounting spacers, customized using your baseboard thickness and height. Choose a stain to coordinate with your gate or select Painted White for a clean trim-matching look.

Features

  • 36-inch height on every spacer — one consistent size across all options.
  • Sold as a pair — two mounting spacers per kit.
  • Three baseboard thickness options: 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch (most common), or 1 inch.
  • Made around your measurements: provide your existing baseboard height in inches.
  • All listed stain colors included at no extra charge.
  • Painted White: add $50 per kit.
  • Predrilled wooden spacers for gate-mounting applications.

How to Order

  1. Measure your baseboard thickness. Measure how far the trim projects from the wall at the mounting location. Include any quarter round or shoe molding that the spacer must clear. Choose 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, or 1 inch. Do not round down if your trim projects farther.
  2. Enter your baseboard height. Measure vertically from the finished floor to the top of the baseboard. Enter the measurement in inches, for example: 5-1/4 inches. If the two sides differ, identify both measurements as left and right.
  3. Choose your finish. All stain selections are included; Painted White adds $50 to the pair.
  4. Review your measurements before checkout. Every spacer is 36 inches tall; the baseboard-height measurement tells us the trim it needs to accommodate.

If your trim falls outside the listed thickness choices, has an unusual profile, or includes additional molding, contact us before ordering so we can review the fit.

Finish Options

Natural, Antique White, Red Mahogany, Dark Walnut, Ebony, English Chestnut, Special Walnut, Espresso, Colonial Maple, Cherry, and Early American are included at no additional charge. Painted White is a $50 upgrade per kit. Antique White stain and Painted White are separate finishes.

View our stain samples on real wood. Wood grain, species, lighting, and stain absorption affect the finished appearance, so colors can vary.

What's Included

  • Two custom wooden baseboard mounting spacers, each 36 inches tall.
  • Your selected standard stain or optional Painted White finish.

Gate, hinges, latch, and gate hardware are sold separately. Fastener choice and length must suit the wall structure and gate installation.

Fit & Installation

Intended for Stumps Custom Wood gate installations, including Modern Pocket, Vertical Slat, and Custom Wooden Swing Gate applications where the mounting layout fits within the spacer. Check the mounting points before ordering: a 36-inch spacer does not mean every 36-inch or taller gate will fit.

Mount into appropriate solid framing and keep both spacers plumb and aligned. Drywall alone is not a structural mounting surface. Spacers reduce the usable opening, so account for their installed dimensions when sizing your gate. A contractor or experienced installer is recommended if you are unsure of the mounting arrangement.

This is a gate-mounting accessory. Compatibility with other brands and child-safety certification have not been established.

Shipping & Order Details

Made to order in our Ohio workshop. Review our current lead times before purchasing. Custom orders are final sale; verify your measurements and finish before payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a gate baseboard spacer do?
It offsets the mounting surface so a projecting baseboard does not force the gate rail to lean against the wall.

How tall are the spacers?
Each spacer is 36 inches tall, regardless of the thickness or finish selected.

Does one kit include both sides?
Yes. One kit contains two wooden mounting spacers.

Is the baseboard-height measurement the spacer height?
No. Your baseboard height describes the trim we need to accommodate. Both finished spacers remain 36 inches tall.

Is stain an extra charge?
No. All listed stain colors are included. Painted White adds $50 per kit.
